Who is Axiom-man™?

Fictional World Character Bio:

One night Gabriel Garrison was visited by a nameless messenger who bestowed upon him great power, a power intended for good. Once discovering what this power was and what it enabled him to do, Gabriel became Axiom-man, a symbol of hope in a city that had none.

Driven by the desire to prove himself someone of worth, Gabriel donned the cape and tights after seeing an article in the Winnipeg Free Press about a little girl who was killed while gang members raided her father's house, looking for drugs. Having always struggled with self-esteem, Gabriel figured that, by being Axiom-man, he might be able to reclaim some of the self-worth that had been lost through twenty-four years of being looked down upon by society, friends and even family. He understood that little girl, understood what it was like to not be heard, to not have the chance to speak up for herself. Perhaps as Axiom-man he'd be able to speak up for those who couldn't, able to take a stand for those overrun by the injustices of society.

He just didn't know that he'd get more than he bargained for and that leading the double-life of a superhero was not as easy as it looked in cartoons and comic books. And once the evil Redsaw appeared on the scene--his life changed forever and the realization that his journey of being a hero had only begun.

Real World Character Bio:

Axiom-man was created roughly 15 years ago while I delivered the Winnipeg Free Press each morning. It was a superhero fantasy to help me pass the time.

But that's all it was for quite a few years: just a fantasy.

During the latter years of highschool, I developed a keen interest in comic book art and drew nearly every day, with the goal of establishing myself as a penciler working for either DC Comics or Marvel. It was during these latter high school years that I merged my superhero fantasy with a new character I created and gave Axiom-man his blue attire.

Then I left it for a long time.

Toward the end of 2005, I decided to do something with my character, having been inspired by other independent superhero creations like Frank Dirscherl's The Wraith, Jon Klement's Rush and the Grey Fox and Eric Cooper's Knightseeker.

So, in January of 2006, I began writing down the storyline I had developing in my head for the past 14 or so years. This became the first novel in the Axiom-man Saga, my hero's self-titled debut, Axiom-man. It was released on September 29, 2006.

And the rest, as they say, is history.
